LA Zoo

The 2nd day of 2013 we headed to the Los Angeles Zoo.
Fiona wanted to see an American zoo before she heads back to Germany in June.

Caden got hold of the camera and took MANY wildlife pics.
Here's 2 of his best.

The gorillas were a favorite.

Although it's kind of freaky to see a creature that looks at you with intelligent eyes, all shut up in an enclosure.
And kind of sad when it's huddled up in a corner in a fetal-like position.
(Sarah and Taffy are demonstrating)

Here are some monkeys of our own. . .

We unanimously voted the playful otters and the baby "pig" that ran around crazy for 5 full minutes our favorites.

It's been many months since we've had an outing all together,

and it was fun to share it with cousins (who have an awesome stroller to boot).

Walking around enjoying each other and the surroundings, my mind wandered back over the decade and a half that we've had children.  It used to be a little blonde Jaycie, in the same jacket KD is wearing, riding on Jeremy's shoulders as we had adventures down in the gully.

And there used to be a bunch of little kids to chase after in the museums, zoos, and aquariums of Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Flint, Houston, etc., etc. instead of a bunch of teenagers who are as tall as I am.

There are moments that I want to freeze.
Time goes so swiftly.

Since November, when Jeremy was given miracles and more time with us,
I hold onto these moments even more dearly.

Life is beautiful.
